Too many parties end with a lacklustre cake that no-one remembers. Yours doesn't have to - picture this...

Your friends and family are gathered to help you celebrate and now it’s time for the cake. The chatter drops as you bring in a stunning creation that perfectly reflects the occasion.

Then the silence is broken with gasps as they clap and reach for phones to take pictures.

And when they get to taste the cake that looked so good you didn’t want to cut it?  More sighs of delight, and a few happy dances before they come back asking for seconds.

So join the many happy customers who come back to me for unforgettable cakes year after year.

How to order a custom celebration cake in four easy steps

Step one: Availability

You will tell me when your celebration is happening so that I can check if I’m available.

Step two: The details

You will tell me what you are celebrating, where, how many guests you are expecting, and any design ideas. We can then talk through your options and anything specific you want to incorporate.

Step three: The design and quote

I will send you an initial quote with a sketch based on our conversation including pricing and size options. Then we will refine the design until it’s perfect.

Step four: Complete the booking

Once the design is agreed I will send my terms and conditions and an invoice showing due dates for your initial and balance payment. Your order is only confirmed when at least the initial payment amount has been received, although you can always choose to pay in full straight away.

FAQ: How much is a celebration cake?

This will depend on a few things, including the size and design you are looking for. Once I know more about your plans I’ll share a tailored quote, but to give you an idea…

Single tier fondant cakes start from £180 and can be collected from me. Two tier fondant cakes start from £350, three tiers from £550. Anything two tiers and over would be delivered to your venue because they aren’t easy to transport.

If you just want cupcakes these start at £3.50 each and the minimum order is 12 per flavour.

FAQ: What flavours do I offer?

How long is a piece of string?

I offer the classic flavours which are also my most popular – vanilla, lemon and chocolate. Then I have richer flavours which add a touch of luxury to your cake. These include: carrot with a subtle orange butter cream; salted caramel with salted caramel filling and butter cream; red or white velvet with a vanilla butter cream, or enhance it with white chocolate butter cream; or add orange to my chocolate cake for a moreish chocolate orange with rich ganache filling.

And there’s my own invention – a decadent and moist white velvet with raspberry served with a butter cream and raspberry conserve filling.

But thanks to my extensive recipe book collection, and the wonders of the internet, the sky really is the limit. If you would like a flavour I haven’t made before then give me a challenge. This could be from a favourite holiday, or bring back memories of a cake your granny used to make.

FAQ: How much cake do you need?

It depends how big the party is and how much you love cake!

You could serve party portions which are normally cut as 1x2inches, and my regular cakes are 5inches tall. This is perfect if you’re sharing the cake as a dessert, or if it’s being wrapped to go into goody bags for your guests to take home.

If you will serve the cake with tea or coffee (or champagne) after a meal I recommend 1x1inch finger portions so everyone gets a taste but won’t feel like they’ve eaten too much.

And if you have more than one flavour your guests will be able to go for seconds without feeling too guilty.

Just make sure you get to eat some too!

FAQ: What styles do I offer?

I specialise in sugar paste (fondant) cakes which give a wonderful scope for colour and design while keeping the cake nice and moist.

The icing I use can be rolled as thinly as 3mm, but if you aren’t a fan you might choose a thick ganache or butter cream finish.

FAQ: Can I deliver your cake?

Yes.

Single tier cakes can be delivered to you or your venue. Cakes with two or more tiers would be delivered to your venue and depending on the design may be assembled on site.

I include delivery in Swindon as standard with all celebration cake orders. For deliveries outside Swindon I will advise if a supplement is needed.

FAQ: Can you collect your cake from me?

Yes… maybe.

Orders for most one tier cakes and cupcakes can be collected from me at an agreed time.

If your cake is two or more tiers, or a complex design it may need to be assembled at your venue to avoid the risk of it being damaged in transit. This will be discussed during steps two and three.

FAQ: Am I insured, registered as a food business, and food safety & allergen trained?

Yes. I have public liability insurance up to £5million, a 5 star food hygiene rating from Swindon Borough Council, and have completed food safety and allergen training.

If your celebration is in a venue they might ask for this information when you tell them I’m supplying the cake. Just tell me who your contact is and I’ll send them a copy.

FAQ: What payment methods do I accept?

I prefer to receive payment by bank transfer, but I can accept cash or cheque.

However, no matter which method you choose your order is only confirmed in my diary when at least the initial payment has cleared into my account (or I have received cash).

And your order will only go ahead if your balance payment has cleared before the advised due date.

FAQ: Can I cater for guests with specific allergies?

I can make cakes “without” a specific ingredient or allergen such as wheat gluten, nuts, soya, dairy or egg.

However, there is always a risk of cross contamination. So if your guest has a severe allergy I would have to say no, it would not be safe for them to eat my cake.

This would be discussed and agreed before I confirm your order.

FAQ: Do I cut and serve the cake for you?

Not usually, no. But I will include a cutting guide on your delivery or collection note so you can see how to cut the cake to get the most portions. If you do need me to stay and cut the cake for you I will quote for this separately.

FAQ: Can I provide an ingredients list for your venue?

Yes

I list ingredients and allergens for your cakes as standard on your delivery or collection note.
